Mr. and Mrs. E. Sidney Foulke

50th Wedding Anniversary

February 28, 2010

A seven-day Eastern Caribbean Cruise will be celebrated by Sid and Nancy in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary. They are retired living in Clinton, Illinois, after living in Florida for 22 years where they raised two sons, Brent (Kay) and Bryce (Melissa). They have six grandchildren. Both sons and two grandsons (Ben and Brendon) are in the ministry.

Nancy and Sid were married at a candlelight service at 3 p.m., Feb. 28, 1960, in the Mahomet Baptist Church. The Rev. D. J. Unruh officiated at the double-ring ceremony before 250 guests.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Myers, of Lincoln, Ill., formerly of Mahomet. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Foulke, of Maroa.

The bride, escorted to the altar and given in marriage by her father, wore a bridal gown of Chantilly lace and delicate tulle. The gown was fashioned with a sabrina neckline and long sleeves which came to

points over her hands. Her fingertip veil was secured by a lace cap edge with pleated tulle and small pearls. She wore an heirloom pendant of blue sapphire with pearl drops which belong to her grandmother, Mrs. R. L. Myers. The bride also carried a lace handkerchief given to her by her grandmother Morfey.

The bride’s mother wore a beige embossed eyelet silk organza sheath dress, fashioned with a scoop neckline and small snug sleeves.

The maid of honor was Miss Carol Sue Jones, a life-long friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Miss Ferol Parrett, friend of the bride, and Miss Carol Ann Foulke, sister of the bridegroom. Miss Cindy Foulke, niece of the bridegroom, as flower girl carried a white basket trimmed with red ribbon and rhinestones. Ringbearer was Mike Morfey, cousin of the bride.

Robert Gentle, Maroa, friend of the bridegroom, was best man. The groomsmen were twins Larry and Gary Myers, brothers of the bride. The twins also lighted the candles and unfolded the white aisle runner.

Larry Gilbert, classmate of the bride, was pianist. He accompanied John Lee Branson, who sang “Because” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” Jack Dollahon,  classmate of the bride, was an usher.

Congratulations, Nancy and Sid, from all of us — the Class of 1958 — and our families!
